Valuation Specialist

A leading investment management firm is seeking a Valuation Specialist to support the build-out of a centralized valuation function within its growing alternatives platform. This is a unique opportunity to join a high-impact team focused on establishing consistent, transparent, and rigorous valuation practices across a wide range of alternative strategies.

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on valuation experience directly from a private equity fund or platform, with a strong foundation in financial modeling, portfolio analytics, and the operational intricacies of private market investments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Valuation to build and manage valuation workflows

  • Prepare quarterly, monthly, and ad hoc valuation models and analytics across multiple asset classes

  • Validate new valuation models and maintain compliance with internal valuation policies

  • Interface with investment teams, accounting, technology, and risk functions to align on pricing inputs and model assumptions

  • Partner with the Technology team to implement valuation systems for new products and streamline processes

  • Conduct price testing using counterparty data and third-party valuation benchmarks

  • Maintain thorough documentation to support valuation conclusions

  • Coordinate directly with external valuation providers and auditors during valuation cycles

Qualifications:

  • Must have prior experience at a private equity fund or alternative investment platform

  • Deep understanding of private market valuation methodologies, especially in private equity, real estate, and private credit

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills

  • Intermediate to advanced Excel modeling capabilities; familiarity with valuation technology and systems is a plus

  • Effective communicator with strong project management and organizational skills

  • Team-oriented, proactive, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment

  • CFA designation preferred; quantitative or finance-related academic background is a plus
