Senior Vice President, Management Company Accounting
An established investment firm is seeking an experienced Senior Vice President of Management Company Accounting to play a pivotal role in overseeing financial operations and driving strategic decision-making within a dynamic finance team. This individual will be responsible for all aspects of financial management, from the monthly close process to financial analysis and reporting. With a strong ability to synthesize complex financial data into actionable insights, the SVP will partner closely with executive leadership to optimize operational efficiencies and maximize profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and execute special projects and financial analyses that provide critical insights to senior leadership, driving informed decision-making across the firm.
Manage accounting responsibilities within the monthly close cycle, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
Conduct thorough monthly reviews of P&L activities by Business Units, analyzing variances against budget, and identifying key drivers of performance.
Oversee the entire financial statement close process, reviewing all revenue and expense bookings and understanding the allocation methodologies to the management company.
Manage consolidated quarterly and annual financial reporting, including financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations.
Examine fee-related components such as management fees and transaction fee offsets, ensuring accuracy and proper accounting.
Lead the development and maintenance of internal controls and business processes, focusing on compliance, efficiency, and scalability.
Identify and implement operational efficiencies and best practices across the finance function.
Collaborate with various departments across the firm, including Fund Accounting, IT, Operations, Compliance, Tax, and Legal teams to ensure streamlined financial processes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
12+ years of relevant experience, including a mix of public accounting and private sector experience, preferably within hedge funds, private equity, or similar investment firms.
Strong understanding of US GAAP, consolidation, and partnership accounting concepts.
Proven track record in a management company or similar senior accounting role, with a focus on partnership development and financial leadership.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven, strategic approach to decision-making.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adept at managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with general ledger accounting systems, with previous experience in Business Central considered a plus.
