Real Estate PE Fund Accounting

  • An experienced individual is sought to manage underlying investments and handle day-to-day accounting and cash flow activities. This role involves calculating capital calls, distributions, asset management fees, and carried interest based on Limited Partnership Agreement (LPA) terms, as well as performing regular accounting closes and reconciliations.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Oversee and manage the accounting activities for underlying investments, ensuring accurate tracking of capital calls, distributions, asset management fees, and carried interest based on LPA terms.

    • Perform monthly and quarterly accounting closes, booking journal entries in Excel, and reconciling books and records against system reporting.

    • Review and reconcile investment capital statements against journal entries to ensure accuracy.

    • Maintain a strong understanding of fund financial statements prepared based on fair value accounting, including level 3 assets under ASC 820 Fair Value Measurement.

    • Analyze performance return drivers, calculating time-weighted returns and Internal Rate of Returns (IRRs) for individual investments and portfolios.

    • Decompose performance return factors from portfolios to individual investments and vice versa.

    • Conduct portfolio analysis based on various investment strategies and industry trends, communicating findings with investment teams and senior management regarding investments and market conditions.

    • Calculate and review monthly and quarterly investment benchmarks, applying appropriate methodologies.

    • Manage routine, daily, and ad-hoc requests from both front-office and back-office teams.

    • Take on additional tasks as required by management.

    Qualifications:

    • Advanced Excel skills are essential, including the use of index, match, indirect, and sumifs functions for data analysis across multiple workbooks. Knowledge of VBA or macros is a plus but not required.

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required; a CPA is preferred but not necessary.

    • At least 3 years of experience in fund accounting, with a proven track record in preparing fund financial statements.

    • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking abilities.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues.

    • Proficiency in Mandarin (written and verbal) is a plus.

    • Ability to multitask efficiently and effectively manage time, planning, and problem-solving skills.
