Fund Accountant, Direct Lending

An experienced Fund Accountant is needed to support a Direct Lending business, focusing on the largest investment platform within the organization. The position requires maintaining the books and records for multiple funds in compliance with GAAP, within the Direct Lending Fund Accounting team. The role also involves collaborating across various departments, including the Front Office, Operations, Financial Reporting, Technology, Tax, and Investor Relations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the accuracy of monthly NAVs by conducting month-end reviews of reconciliations, trading PNL, and accruals.

  • Prepare financial statements for multiple funds on a quarterly basis.

  • Contribute to the preparation of year-end audited financial statements, including related footnotes.

  • Maintain accurate fund accounting, reporting, analysis, and lead special projects, developing a deep understanding of traded products and associated processes.

  • Communicate directly with third-party administrators to manage fund operations.

  • Interact with various departments including the Front Office, Technology, Operations, Investor Relations, Legal, Tax, and Financial Reporting.

  • Respond to investor relations requests and provide necessary information.

  • Modify and manage accounting/financial systems, procedures, and processes as required.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

  • 2–5 years of experience in public accounting (Audit – Financial Services), or a combination of public and private accounting experience.

  • CPA certification is required.

  • Strong understanding of private equity fund accounting issues, including capital allocation, waterfall, and management fee calculations for closed-end funds.

  • Experience with fixed income products is a plus, particularly originated loans, bank debt, and CLO structures.

  • Familiarity with Wall Street Office, Visual Portfolio Manager, or similar software is a plus.

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge.

  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to work well in a dynamic and deadline-driven environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and Word.
