A prominent hedge fund is seeking two experienced payroll professionals to support payroll operations across the Americas. One role is for a Payroll Associate based in New York City, and the other is for a remote Payroll Specialist. Both positions are integral to the accurate and compliant processing of payroll for more than 2,000 employees, including U.S.-based staff and internationally mobile professionals.
These roles offer the opportunity to work within a high-performance environment that values accuracy, agility, and collaboration across departments such as HR, Benefits, Compensation, Finance, Legal, and external payroll partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Execute bi-monthly payroll cycles for employees in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Canada, and select international locations.
Review and reconcile payroll data to ensure accuracy and adherence to regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary payroll inputs and resolve related issues.
Manage employee onboarding and payroll setup, including reviewing tax elections and compliance forms.
Address employee payroll inquiries with professionalism and discretion.
Maintain payroll records and support reporting obligations for internal and external stakeholders.
Oversee data integration processes related to benefits, retirement plans, timekeeping, and accounting systems.
Engage with third-party vendors to support region-specific payroll processes such as Canadian and expatriate payrolls.

While both positions are aligned under the same payroll function, they differ slightly in focus:
The Payroll Associate (NYC) will concentrate on U.S., Puerto Rico, and Canada payroll, including management of third-party vendor processes, off-cycle payments, and time tracking.
The Payroll Specialist (Remote) will focus on international assignments, including expatriate and shadow payrolls, coordination for globally mobile employees, and compliance with international tax requirements.
Ideal Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline.
3 to 5+ years of hands-on payroll experience, ideally within a fast-paced, multi-jurisdictional environment.
Familiarity with a cloud-based payroll system (experience with Workday is a plus).
In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with comfort working with large data sets.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt in a dynamic environment.
