Assistant Controller, Private Equity & Credit
This position involves managing the finance and accounting work streams for complex funds, including private equity, credit funds, and related investments. The role emphasizes oversight of critical control functions such as accounting, valuation, and operations to support the business's strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
Serve as a member of the finance team overseeing accounting and financial reporting for pre-IPO equity and credit funds.
Manage the Fund Administrator responsible for preparing quarterly financial statements, capital account statements, capital calls, and distribution notices.
Oversee and ensure compliance with fund credit facility agreements, maintaining a thorough understanding of portfolio assets.
Review and analyze distribution waterfalls in accordance with fund legal documents.
Monitor partnership and fund IRRs quarterly and perform ad hoc calculations as needed.
Review management fee calculations.
Collaborate with audit and tax professionals on year-end audit and tax reporting.
Prepare detailed cash projections for fund liquidity management.
Assist with LP-specific reporting and responses to prospective client RFPs.
Partner with investor relations to address LP inquiries.
Handle various ad hoc requests from senior management and portfolio managers.
Support compliance with SEC or other regulatory requirements as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting or Finance.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, fund accounting, and financial reporting.
4–7 years of accounting/finance experience; CPA designation is a plus but not required.
Experience with credit-related products, including loan settlement and trade reconciliations, is advantageous.
Highly detail-oriented and organized with strong analytical skills.
Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.
Capability to work independently with minimal supervision while achieving objectives.
Proficiency in email and Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization and with external partners to drive results and innovation.
