Your resume is the most important reflection
of your qualifications. It is the first and most
important impression you will make on an employer.
The following are resume tips we offer our candidates:
Resume Tips
Every aspect of your resume
should serve a purpose and be related to your current
career goals.
Describe your duties at
current and past positions specifically and concisely.
Use numbers, dollar amounts
and percentages to demonstrate your accomplishments and
responsibilities.
Have a professional email
address to provide to recruiters and employers in the
header of your resume. This means creating a new email
account if necessary. A juvenile email address from high
school gives a juvenile impression of you.
Employers do not have very
much time to read resumes. When they do read your resume
they want your related experience to instantly jump out
at them. If they see your unrelated summer job as a lifeguard,
or your experience waitressing at your college pub, they
will most likely think you are not qualified for the position.
Avoid this by only including the most relevant information
about your work experience. If you have any questions
about what work experience to include on your resume,
ask your recruiter.
Be completely honest about
all information included in your resume. Many employers
have become more cautious and will try to verify as much
information as possible. This includes your college/university
attendance, possibly your GPA, and your previous jobs.
Proofread multiple times.
Check for spelling and grammatical errors, and have a
friend read over your resume.
